It's important to keep our kids safe online, but also important to
teach them to use the resources available on the internet. Older
children will be required, more and more, to do on-line research for
the school projects.
Here are some on-line resources for kids to do research for fun or
school, that have been developed specifically to help kids use the
internet in a safe environment.
Resource #1: Walter R. Sundling's Research * Technology
Center Page
Walter
R. Sundling's Research*Technology Center has developed a
research website that
serves as a portal for students to the web. It has links to all
kinds of on-line resources that kids can use for research projects.
Resource #2: KidZui (FREE)
For maximum technology usage with minimum safety risks, KidZui
offers an alternative to using Google for research. Kids ages
3-12 can have their own separate accounts, giving each access
through the KidZui browser to
age-appropriate videos, pictures, research information, games and
websites.
Resource #3: Palatine Library Online
The
Palatine Library website has a section with links to
kid-friendly research sites.
