Volunteer in the Classroom
Many classrooms appreciate parent volunteers throughout the year ... to run centers, read with students or help out during a room party. Contact your child's room parent to find out how you can help (even just once or twice!)
Volunteer for Individual Events
If you are interested in volunteering for one of the events below, please contact the chairperson for the event. After School Specials (2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/2): Help teach or assist in 1 hour afterschool workshops (3:20 - 4:30). Share your talents, work, hobbies or special interests with our students in these fun interactive classes.

Back to School Picnic (8/25): Be part of the 2012 Back to School Picnic Planning Committee, set-up, games, entertainment, food, clean-up. |
Birthday Book Club (8/23 & 8/31): Provide new books to the school library in honor of PH students' birthdays. This is an easy job- help sell books for an hour during Meet the Teacher Day or Parent Orientation night!
Book Fair (10/17-10/21): Help set up, sell books and take down the book fair for children and adults. |
Cougar Carnival (2/3): Planning, running games, distributing food, setting up and cleaning up. Please consider volunteering for this very popular family event. There is an early shift and late shift so you can still spend time with your family. |
Dads & Donuts (A-L 4/13) (M-Z 4/27): Moms help pass out donuts, coffee and juice to kids and their Dads before school. |
Field Day (6/1): Fill up water balloons and/or help pass out water bottles, or run a game. Please help! Just like Cougar Carnival, it takes a lot of parent volunteers to make this all-day event a success. |
Holiday Gift Shop (12/8): Work at this school store and help students select from a wide array of reasonably priced holiday gift items for their family or friends. (Most help needed 3:00-4:00.) |
Moms & Munchies (A-L 10/7) (M-Z 10/14): Dads help pass out donuts, coffee and juice to kids and their moms before school. |
MultiCultural Fest (4/20): Consider hosting a country. Help set up and cleaning up the event area, assist hot/cold food distribution to the booths, and help cultural group booths as needed. There will be early/late shifts. |
Open Registration (2/15): Assist families who are registering students for the next school year with their paperwork and questions. |
Reflections (October): Help with the preparation and hanging of the Reflections entries for the Pleasant Hill Art Gallery. |

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Beautification - Help with planting & watering in fall & spring & with plant displays in winter.
BoxTops/ Campbells Soup Labels/Etc. - Help trim & package the labels to be sent to various organizations in return for cash & supplies. Work can be done in your home when you have time.
Care & Concern-Provide meals and practical support for PH families facing crisis.
Environmental Ed - Help at lunchtime with the once a month Waste-Free Lunch and Earth Club meetings. Assist with activities such as the Book Swap in spring.
Game Station - New! Coordinated by Sherri Thomas, Social Worker. Runs a few days a week 11:30-12 & 12-12:30. Volunteers get game cart, help students play games. You choose frequency of volunteering.
Make A Difference Club - A community service club for all grades that is run mostly during lunch hours. However, preparation for club activities can be done at all different times. Meets twice a month on Mondays.
Staff Appreciation - Help plan events throughout the year to show the staff how much we appreciate their efforts. Great for 1st timers because a lot of the work is done on a "when you can help" schedule. Bakers/food donations needed too!
Yearbook - Photographers and page creators needed. Yearbook is created using a web-based program, so page creators can work from home on their computers at any time, using the pictures the photographers take at school events (such as field trips, Halloween and Valentine's Day parties, Buddy events, etc.) to create the class/homeroom pages. You can volunteer to do both, and you can specify your child's grade!
